Big Head's is family owned and operated by Cindy & J.C. Olano and their two daughters April & Amanda. Because of its down-home feel and simply comfortable surroundings, you may also see their son (Jonathan) or one of the grandkids (Noah, Destiny, and Tristan "T-Paul") from time to time - as well as locals and travelers alike. J.C. loves to cook, especially Bar-B-Q. So much so, he fabricated his own pit from scratch (now lovingly referred to as "Ole Black"), as well as several large kettle pots for cooking jambalaya -a restaurant specialty. What began as cooking for pleasure, soon became cooking for a living. One day on the way home from a friend's house they saw the perfect place for a small Bar-B-Q stop, nestled on the bank of Bayou Grosse Tete. After a year of remodeling, both the building and the menu have been totally transformed. Offering culinary pleasures such as real pit bar-b-q, melt in your mouth fried chicken and daily menu specials like jambalaya, fried pork chops and red beans and rice. Big Head's is a memorable culinary delight at the gateway to the Atchafalaya Heritage Area.

Nestled in the historic district of the small community of Plaquemine, Guidry's is a local favorite offering lunch Monday thru Friday and dinner Monday thru Saturday. A family owned and operated restaurant, Guidry's offers a casual dining experience serving the finest seafood and steaks including shrimp, catfish, oysters, Louisiana crawfish and rib-eyes and filets. Our historic building was built in 1899 and has a stamped metal ceiling and displays documentary photos of the community. For private gatherings or group tours, Guidry's has a small banquet facility with seating for up to 45 people.
